The Cats

I am the guardian of two cats, Keynes and Esme.

Keynes is a black Domestic Shorthair feline.  She is an intelligent cat who is Chief Cat in the household.  It is been argued before that she is my favorite cat.  However, it is not possible to prove this theory, so it must not be true.  Keynes' interests include sitting in the sunny window (napping or keeping a watchful eye for Godzilla or King Kong), playing with pens or twist ties, sleeping, and waiting for her human to come home.  She is named after John Keynes, a controversial economist from the United Kingdom who was the first mainstream economist to challenge the idea that the marketplace is best left unregulated.

Esme is a tan/calico Domestic Longhair cat. Esme was found yelling for help outside a movie theatre in the Clearwater Crossing neighborhood in Indianapolis on August 26, 2000. Esme was significantly underweight, hungry, and weighed only five pounds. She was probably either abandoned several weeks prior by an irresponsible person who no longer wanted her or wandered over from the nearby apartment complex. The vet estimated that Esme was a year old and had no health problems, and was simply thin from lack of food. Esme has long since recovered and is now a healthy cat who keeps Keynes company.  Esme's interests include sitting on a perch looking outdoors and occasionally playing with some of the many cat toys.  Esme was named after a friend's pet rat...she sometimes resembles a big rat.
